Planned Parenthood Advocates of Virginia Announces Democratic
Women’s Health Champions in the 6th Senate District Special Election
Richmond – Today, Planned Parenthood Advocates of Virginia announces its Democratic Women’s Health Champions for the special election in the 6th Senate District to fill the seat vacated by lieutenant governor-elect Ralph Northam.
“As the leading advocate of Planned Parenthood health centers across the state, we are committed to educating voters and supporting candidates who will stand up to protect women’s access to quality, affordable health care,” said Cianti Stewart-Reid, executive director, Planned Parenthood Advocates of Virginia.
Below are Women’s Health Champions for the 6th Senate District Democratic primary with a statement about their candidacy.
“As an entrepreneur, a community leader, and a mother, Andria McClellan understands the importance of electing a leader that will fight for the families of her community and bring common sense solutions to Richmond. She recognizes those qualities in Ralph Northam, serving as his campaign treasurer, and would be a strong advocate for women’s health and rights in the state senate.”
“Paula Miller has a record of fighting for the families of this community during her time serving in the House of Delegates. Like Ralph Northam, she strongly believes that politicians in Richmond should not interfere in women’s personal, private medical decisions and would work to expand access to quality affordable health care in the state senate.”
“We are happy to announce the Women’s Health Champions in the race to fill the vacated seat of lieutenant governor-elect Ralph Northam,” said Stewart-Reid. “We know that each of these candidates would be a vocal supporter of women’s health and rights, and we look forward to working with the next state senator from the 6th Senate District.”
Planned Parenthood Advocates of Virginia has reached out the Republican candidates and any announcement on those candidates will come separately.
