Birth Control Protection Act: going on the record for contraception!

HB 2221 the Birth Control Protection Act, introduced by Del. Kristen Amundson (D-44) in the 2007 General Assembly Session, defines birth control in the Virginia state code in order to protect it from laws that currently regulate abortion (mandatory 24-hour delay, state-scripted counseling, refusal clause, and parental consent). There is no funding tied to this bill; it is just a simple affirmation of birth control. This is a bill that all legislators should support!

Unfortunately, this bill was killed in the Health subcommittee of the House Committee on Health, Welfare and Institutions on a narrow 4-3 vote. The good news is, we got many legislators on the record in support of contraception, including 21 co-patrons!

If you don't see your legislator listed anywhere below, it is because he or she did not state a clear position or respond to constituent requests to co-sponsor the bill.
