Vox: Voices for Planned Parenthood is a program to educate and mobilize students and youth in support of reproductive health and rights. Vox groups across the country organize public events, educate their peers, support their local Planned Parenthood health centers, and mobilize students and other young people to speak out for reproductive rights and access to reproductive health services.
Vox members get involved! We organize and let politicians know that our reproductive choices are important to us and must be protected!

affordable birth control national week of action
|
In March Vox chapters around the country
participated in a National Week of Action to raise awareness about the dramatic
increase in birth control prices. Due to a simple legislative error in the
Deficit Reduction Act of 2005 implemented in January 2007) college health
centers and many safety net health care providers were cut out of the discount
program. As a result, more than 3 million college students and hundreds of
thousands of low-income women have lost access to affordable birth control.

Vox
at the University
of Virginia tabled to educate their community about the price
increase, using stacks of Ramen noodles and
Macaroni-and-Cheese as a visual representation of the new cost of birth
control. Vox members also had students sign petitions and call Senator John
Warner (R – VA) to support the Prevention through Affordable Access Act
to restore affordable birth control.

4th annual virginia vox statewide conference
This year Vox: Voices for Planned Parenthood’s UVA chapter hosted the 4th Annual Statewide Vox Conference. The day consisted of workshops aimed at energizing and educating students to be advocates on campus for reproductive health and rights. Members from chapters around the state presented on topics such as Lobbying, Movement Building on Campus, Strategic Planning for the Year Ahead, Effective Communications and Event Planning on Campus. Delegate David Toscano (D-57, Charlottesville) gave a keynote address about the legislative process, the importance of upcoming elections and, most importantly, how students can be effective in influencing legislators. By the end of his address, everyone was excited to mobilize their chapters for Pro-Choice Lobby Day on January 31st in Richmond!
