Virginia Planned Parenthood Organizations Endorse John Bell for

Delegate in the 87th House District

RICHMOND, VA — Today, Planned Parenthood Advocates of Virginia and Planned Parenthood Metropolitan Washington Action Fund announce their endorsement of John Bell for the Virginia House of Delegates' 87th district running against Delegate David Ramadan. John Bell received a 100% rating from both organizations.

John Bell is a retired member of the United States Air Force and currently works as financial professional, assisting government clients to identify inefficiencies and implement cost-saving solutions. He has an MBA and a Masters in Organizational Development from George Washington University. John is married and lives in South Riding with his wife Margaret. They have five children and a proud tradition of military service with John and Margaret both having served in the Air Force and three of their children also having served in the military.

Statement from Cianti Stewart-Reid, Executive Director of Planned Parenthood Advocates Virginia:

“We know that John Bell will fight for the people of the 87th District and will work to protect and advance women’s access to quality and affordable health care. As a retired veteran who is now a financial professional, John has the leadership and experience necessary to best serve the 87th District in Richmond.

“His opponent, David Ramadan, has a history of putting his extreme agenda ahead of the people of his district and Virginia, voting in favor of the medically unnecessary ultrasound bill. Forcing doctors to use ultrasounds for political reasons is the very definition of government intrusion. The people of the 87th District deserve better representation and that’s why we support John Bell.”

Statement from Dr. Laura Meyers, Board Chair of Planned Parenthood Metropolitan Washington Action Fund:

“David Ramadan does not represent the best interest of the people of his district. In addition to his votes against women’s health measures, he has also voted against practical solutions to the challenges we face in Northern Virginia. David Ramadan voted against the mainstream transportation bill. This was the first long-term transportation plan passed in over 20 years in the Commonwealth and will bring much needed improvement to our transportation system, particularly in Northern Virginia—allowing families to spend more time together instead of on gridlocked highways.

“The people of the 87th District deserve a leader who will work to end the partisan gridlock in Richmond and focus on the issues that matter to the families of his community—not an extreme and out-of-touch agenda. John Bell is clearly that leader.”

The 87th House District encompasses parts of Loudoun and Prince William counties. In 2012, Planned Parenthood Virginia PAC’s voter contact efforts where focused largely on Loudoun County including 5 mailers, more than 19,300 calls to voters, and more than 13,000 doors knocked in just six weeks of activity on the ground, primarily in Loudoun County with a focus on the 87th House District.
