The Planned Parenthood Virginia PAC is a nonpartisan political action committee committed to supporting pro-women’s health candidates for office in Virginia.

Job Description:  Organizing fellows who work in the advocacy department assist with grassroots organizing activities pertaining to reproductive health and choice issues. The fellows will primarily be responsible for voter engagement through volunteer recruitment, canvassing, and phone banking within our coordinated campaign against Ken Cuccinelli. For more info on the campaign, go to: www.keepkenout.org

Position:  Keep Ken Out Organizing Fellow

Responsible To:  Grassroots Advocacy Manager

Time Commitment:  15 hrs.per week

Responsibilities May Include: 

  • Identify and recruit volunteers via phone banking and canvassing
  • Achieve attainable, metric-based goals set by PP staff
  • Complete data entry and management
  • Establish regular communication with PP staff regarding voter engagement efforts
  • Assist and manage/run volunteer events
  • Provide assistance with other tasks as needed 
  • Coordinate and staff tables at community events

Qualifications:

  • Support Planned Parenthood’s mission
  • A strong and proven commitment to progressive values and civic engagement, especially within traditionally underrepresented communities and youth
  • Have excellent communication and writing skills
  • Have reliable access to a computer with internet
  • Available and willing to work some weekday evenings and weekends
  • Outgoing, self-motivated and detail-oriented
  • Complete a positive background check and provide at least 3 references
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and preferably own a car
  • Previous campaign experience and knowledge of Virginia politics a plus
