Monty Mason for Delegate Endorsement

Planned Parenthood Advocates of Virginia Endorse Monty Mason for

Delegate in the 93rd House District

RICHMOND, VA — Today, Planned Parenthood Advocates of Virginia announces the endorsement of Monty Mason for the Virginia House of Delegates' 93rd district running against Delegate Mike Watson.

Monty Mason has a long history of civic and business involvement.  He graduated from the College of William and Mary with a degree in government, and he currently serves as a Senior Director at Visa, Inc., where he focuses on fraud prevention and reducing risk for banks and consumers.  Monty is active in the community, currently serving as chairman of the Williamsburg Economic Development Authority, on the Greater Williamsburg Chamber and Tourism Alliance Board, the Historic Triangle Collaborative Economic Diversity Task Force, and the development committee of Child Development Resources. He lives in Williamsburg with his wife Pamela and their two daughters.

Statement from Cianti Stewart-Reid, Executive Director of Planned Parenthood Advocates of Virginia:

“Monty Mason will bring a commonsense approach to the House of Delegates and will stand up against the extreme and divisive attacks against women’s health and rights in Richmond. With a long history of civic and business involvement in his community, Monty has the leadership and experience necessary to best serve the people of the 93rd House District.

“Meanwhile, Mike Watson has continuously supported measures aimed at interfering in Virginia women’s medical decisions that are best left up to a woman, her faith, and her family in consultation with her doctors. Watson supported the forced ultrasound bill that would require a medically unnecessary ultrasound before a woman undergoes an abortion and extreme and dangerous so-called “personhood” legislation that could interfere with a woman’s personal, private medical decisions if enacted.

“We’re happy to support Monty Mason in this race because the people of the 93rd district deserve a leader who will focus on the issues important to the families of the community and help end the partisan gridlock in Richmond. It’s clear Monty Mason is that candidate.”

The 93rd House District encompasses parts of James City and York counties, Williamsburg City, and Newport News City.
